||A "Collection" of Quick Hits
Steve Loesch, Anixter, Inc.
As DB2 continues to evolve, I have picked up new techniques for building Stored Procedures, User Defined Functions, and Dynamic SQL. This presentation will also discuss DB2 V11 features used at Anixter.
Objective 1. Using XML with DB2 stored procedures and functions to keep parameters markers in sync. XML Documents are used in input/output parameters and return cursors.
Objective 2, Using DB2 V11's new Autonomous Procedures to aid in procedure debugging and error tracking.
Objective 3. Review requirements for developing a dynamic SQL procedure and use of concentrate literals.
Objective 4. Real World experience with UTS tablespace conversions.
Objective 5. Review of other useful DB2 V11 features used at Anixter.

||Modern DB2 Security You Can Trust
Troy Coleman, IBM
Security is at the top of the list of concerns for CIO’s these days. DB2 for z/OS is running on the most secure platform in the industry, however, you still need to take steps to ensure you are taking advantage of the security features built into DB2. One of these features “roles and trusted contexts” has been overlooked for years, but more recently companies have been asking for help in understanding and implementing roles and trusted contexts. This presentation will explain the concepts of roles and trusted contexts and will provide some real-world use cases and steps to implement them. In addition, we will discuss some recent enhancements delivered in DB2 11 around secondary roles.

||SQL Tuning in the Digital World
Sheryl Larsen, BMC
The Digital World includes all kinds of transactions most of which contain SQL. Trapping and fixing nonperforming SQL has gotten more complicated or has it? The speed at which SQL performance problems need to be resolved has shrunken to .1ms or 0 – meaning that they should never happen. Come learn tips and techniques that can assist you in today’s Digital World.
Objective 1: When your monitors find this, what should you do?
Objective 2: What crazy SQL can do to you?
Objective 3: Finding the most expensive query running in the peak
Objective 4: Some old and new tuning techniques
Objective 5: Monetize your MLC savings with compares

||JSON Enhancement and Use Case with Watson
Jae Lee, IBM
Applications around Mobile devices are becoming increasingly important in large enterprises with requirement of storing JSON in database. This presentation will illustrate the JSON storage model and SQL APIs to manipulate JSON data.
We will also present the JSON enhancements we delivered in the services stream. With rapid adoption of JSON, we will share how customers use JSON in a real world scenario and use cases using Watson. Tips and pitfalls will be given to ensure a successful JSON solution in an agile application development model.
